Any suggestion of what I should eat or drink before i go running to give me more energy and strength? thanks
One of my doctors recommends protein and vitamin fortified waters — my favorite of late is Special K because it has protein but it is still light tasting. Her recommendation is to always have both protein and carbohydrates. That said, depending on how far you will be running, e.g. a simple training run or a marathon, you don’t want to overdo the calories.

I usually try to eat after I run, this way I avoid pucking or having a heavy stomach. Before you run i would suggest that you have a glass of water while you stretch

I have found a drink that would be perfect for your situation. It is an energy drink but it does not contain all of the caffeine and sugar that most energy drinks have. I drink this drink every day and have found that it works real good as a "sports recovery" drink. It’s good for hydration that you need when you are involved with sports or working out in the heat.

Your muscles need carbohydrates for energy, about an hour or two before you run. Some carbs with protein and a little bit of fat is the best thing to eat. Just drinking something isn’t enough energy. Your endurance and overall performance will be better if you eat something. I run in the morning after breakfast, when I eat eggs with toast and a little bit of cheese I run the best. If I just eat cereal I don’t do as well, get tired quicker, etc. So try some carbs, protein and a little fat, and some fruit with it is good, too.
